A Horse is A Horse - of course??? This is "Susan's" story.

................... ........................

What does learning to ride a horse have to do with surviving family violence? Lots!

“Susan” (not her real name) is shown learning to ride a horse, something she and her counselor agreed would be a challenge, but a goal she wanted to achieve. You see, Susan lives in a very small apartment with two of her three siblings and their mother. Her oldest brother is serving time in prison for assault within the family. The entire family had endured his violence for years.

Most days, the family stayed inside the dark apartment. It just seemed safer to stay inside.

Today, the entire family receives individualized support from Webster House Youth Services staff. “We’re helping them become a strong family again,” comments Brenda, one of the counselors for Webster House. “Learning to ride a horse for “Susan” has been a little out of her comfort zone, but now she’s not so afraid to get out and really experience life and all it has to offer.”

Thanks to donors like you, “Susan” is able to realize her goals. She has a new trust and looks forward to her life as a confident and safe young girl.
