
International studies show that one in three women will experience abuse by a significant other in their lifetime, while 40% of all murdered women are killed by their husbands or lovers. These statistics are staggering, but Every Woman's Place and Webster House Youth Services are here to strengthen families. Our programs range from domestic violence prevention to youth programs geared toward helping youth make positive decisions about their lives.
Case Advocate/Worker
This individual may facilitate groups; provide individual crisis counseling, advocacy and share information and referrals with the residential and non-residential domestic and sexual violence survivors and their families. Experience in the Human Service field and/or currently enrolled in a higher education program required.
Children’s Activities
We are looking for volunteers to help with fun activities for our clients to participate in. These activities may include a movie night, musical fun, arts/crafts, or holiday parties. Volunteer input is encouraged. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Clerical Support
This support is needed to help with mailings, arrange files, and answering the phones. With all of the services we provide there is always a need for someone to help take care of the “paperwork side” of things. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Crisis Aides
Crisis aides work on the residential domestic and sexual violence floor supporting the women and children whom are staying there, answering the Crisis Line Phone, light cleaning, and providing some transportation services.High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Domestic Abuse Response Team (Dart)
The mission of the Domestic Assault Response Team is to reduce violence against families in Muskegon County by drawing on the resources of various community groups to intervene immediately to the survivor’s needs. Volunteers work with survivors of domestic violence to provide support and needed information. This will be done through on-site crisis intervention at the time of the incident and through on-going advocacy when necessary. Teams will work in twos approximately two days on-call every four to six weeks. The number of hours of actual on-call availability will vary depending on number of volunteers and availability of each individual volunteer. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Facilities Support
This may include helping in the kitchen, working at our Donation Center, or simply helping to beautify our grounds. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Foster Grandparents
Foster Grandparents are utilized in our shelter to assist with the care and supervision of children. They play games, rock, cuddle, read books, and give our children lots of love. This individual may also provide respite care to residential and non-residential youth while their parent/guardian is meeting with their counselor or attending group. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Legal Advocate
The legal advocate offers support to stalking, domestic, and sexual violence victims throughout the justice system process. This individual may help with personal protection orders or accompany clients in the courtroom during court procedures. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Special Events/Projects
This individual may provide assistance for special outings with clients, i.e. trip to the zoo, camping, yard sales, budgeting/parenting class and holiday help. High school diploma and/or related experience required.
Therapist
This individual may provide on-going therapy/support to residential and non-residential domestic and sexual violence survivors and their families. Currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program or must possess a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field required.
Transportation Volunteer
This individual provide local transportation assistance for residential and non-residential clients to necessary appointments, i.e. DHS, Donation Center, MAP, CAAP, MOCAP, hospital, doctor, etc. High school diploma and/or related experience required.

We don't know how many lives you touched, but we know it happened. We are not able to say how many lives you spared...how much suffering you relieved, how many children were saved, how many youth were secured from the streets and placed into loving homes solely because of you. INTERNSHIPS
Internships are available at Every Woman's Place (EWP). We offer these experiences to active students or individuals whom have completed their education and are looking for some practical experience. We offer internships at various stages of educational experience, including but not limited to High School, Associate’s Level, Bachelor’s Level, and Master’s Level placements. Following the review of your application, Melissa will call and set up an interview. Every Woman’s Place and Webster House Youth Services provides a 20 hour Empathy/Orientation Training which all volunteers who will be completing 45 hours of service or more must complete after their placement has been made.
