The Girls on the Run Celebration 5k is a culmination of an 8-week program. The run will take place at a new location this year…. Heritage Landing! “We had several groups in the community interested in seeing the girls run in our community,” commented Melissa Reid, Council Director for Girls on the Run Muskegon County.
1,200 girls representing 37 schools in Muskegon County have participated in a record attendance year for Girls on the Run. This program is coordinated through Every Woman's Place with the help of volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, school liaisons and volunteers to help coordinate.
"The Muskegon County Council is growing by leaps and bounds," commented Melissa Reid, Council Director for Girls on the Run Muskegon. " Muskegon County can be proud of this program. We have rallied volunteers and almost doubled the number of girls participating in the program." The cost to participate is only $60 and the council is working to expand the number of scholarships available so that every girl has a chance to participate.
